Had my tongue tie revised this afternoon! Went to my much adored Dr. Newman My 3 and 5 year old daughters (older unrevised, younger revised at ~3 weeks old) both had check-ups first, which went really well. They waited in the reception area with my husband while I went back. Daphne got me prepped and told me a bit about Dr. Newman's new CO2 laser. When Dr. Newman (Mikel) came back, we chatted, he did and assessment, some measurements (could open my mouth 35 cm, 27 with tongue touching roof of mouth), and took pictures. He didn't see a need to revise my ULT or right buccal ties at this time. He numbed me topically, then did some injections - that was the most painful part of the procedure, and it really wasn't bad at all. Actual procedure was very fast and I felt NOTHING. Slight smell. He remarked it was 10x faster than usual. He seemed very proud of his work :) Took some photos, did a minor touch up, and gave me a few reminders! I felt great and will go see him in a week for follow up. I immediately felt as though my shoulders had dropped post-procedure!!
Was really numb when I left. Took a quick shopping trip to Trader Joe's, then home to make sloppy Joe's at my oldest's request. I even managed to carefully eat one and enjoyed cold iced tea and a popsicle. Now, about 4-5 hours later, some pain and soreness has set in. Surprised that it hurts to swallow, like I have a sore throat, and have to remind myself not to clench my jaw/teeth. Enjoying some cold wine after taking ibuprofen and keeping up with dieses of arnica (200ck) and hypericum (30c). My husband is laughing at my use of homeopathy, but can't hurt and comes highly recommended by others who have been through this. Trying to move my tongue a lot and do the stretches my friend and myofacial therapist, Lisa, has recommended, especially suctioning my tongue to the roof of my mouth and stretching. I definitely think I can open my mouth wider and with more ease.
I know the next few days will be the hardest, but hoping it's a little easier due to the use of the CO2 laser. Setting an alarm to stretch every 4 hours through the night.
